CertHE Common Law

Access to University of London International Programmes for Pakistani FA/FSc Students

The Certificate of Higher Education in Common Law (CertHE Common Law), formerly known as the Diploma in Law, is now available at the School of International Law (SIL). This qualification is specially designed to provide Pakistani students from the Intermediate (FA/FSc) stream an opportunity to access the prestigious University of London International Programmes, even if they do not hold traditional British school qualifications such as O and A Levels.
The CertHE is not only a recognised qualification in itself, but it also mirrors the academic content of the first year of the LLB (Hons) programme. To ensure success, students receive additional support in English language and study skills, helping them navigate the demands of university-level legal education.

Upon successful completion, students may progress directly into the second year of the University of London LLB (Hons) programme—bringing them one step closer to completing a full undergraduate degree in law.

To be eligible, applicants must:

Be 18 years of age or older at the time of registration

Demonstrate the ability, motivation, and discipline to study at degree level

Programme Structure

The CertHE Common Law consists of four core modules, each carrying 30 credits, totaling 120 credits for the academic year. These foundational subjects are the same as those taught in the first year of the LLB (Hons) program.

Core Modules:
Common Law Reasoning and Institutions (30 credits)

Contract Law (30 credits)

Criminal Law (30 credits)

Public Law (30 credits)

Your teaching Institution will also provide classes in study skills and where necessary, additional english language support.
